On March 29th, some of our athletes went up the road to Sembower Field to watch the Men's Lacrosse at Indiana University's team compete against Michigan State. The score was not released, but the men's lacrosse team played their hearts out after playing Western Michigan the day before. Our swimmers had a great time supporting another one of our great club sports at Indiana University!
On April 28th, the Indiana University School of Public Health hosted a special screening of When Everyone Swims. Our swimmers got to watch and listen to influential stories around swimming and water safety. After the screening, there was a Q&A session moderated by our founder, Dr. Bill Ramos, with guests Jerald Harkness, director; Lilly King, Olympic medalist; and Dr. Tiffany Monique Quash, production consultant. Once the Q&A concluded, Bill and Lilly joined the Swim Club crew for a quick picture commemorating the work of two Indiana University swimming influencers. Our team enjoyed this film, and some powerful moments even brought a few tears! Wonderfully done film! Definitely recommend seeing the film whenever it comes to a cinema near you!

April 16, 2026, was a BIG day for our club and, most importantly, our founder, Dr. William (Bill) Dominic Ramos! At this year's SRSA banquet, Laura Kucik began presenting the "Advisor of the Year" award by asking Bill to come on stage. After the SRSA banquet attendees clapped, Laura continued with these remarks: "For nearly 25 years, Dr. Bill Ramos has been a steady presence, mentor, coach, and friend behind generations of Swim Club students here at IU. His dedication, care, and unmatched support have shaped not only a club but a true community. Bill has shaped generations of student athletes and helped them build not only a team but a family. His impact is woven into the story of Swim Club at IU across the nation through 'Swimming for a Lifetime.' His impact is woven into — I already read that. Sorry. [audience laughs] In celebration, — It's important! [Laura and audience laugh] In celebration of his extraordinary impact, we are proud to announce that the "Advisor of the Year" award will now be known as the "Bill Ramos Club Sport Advisor of the Year" award. [presenters and audience clap and cheer] Thank you for setting the standard and the heart of what it means to be an Advisor for Club Sports."
From 1999 to 2025, Bill Ramos was the Head Coach, Faculty Advisor, Founder, and Friend of Swim Club at Indiana University. Last year, Swim Club celebrated its 25th Anniversary and the sad departure/retirement of Bill from the club. Bill had 26 amazing seasons with the team and was responsible for building an enormous swim family at Indiana University. Bill promotes water safety and has researched how aquatic environments impact the human experience through recreational delivery systems. At the 25th Anniversary Celebration, a couple of alumni and Swim Club officers spoke with Club Sports to determine what needed to be done to rename the "Advisor of the Year" award. The Club Sports staff said they were already considering renaming the award, and this conversation gave them another push toward making it a reality. We wanted to give Bill a BIG congratulations on the award renaming, and a thank you for all that he has done for Indiana University and the Swim Club!
