On March 1st, Swim Club at Indiana University returned to volunteer at Pantry 279 on the edge of Bloomington. Our volunteers arrived at 11 am and were put right to work. Some of the jobs that were given to us included sorting item organization, potato packing, and other various tasks. Our team had another great time. We look forward to working with Pantry 279 again.
On March 2nd, members of Swim Club at Indiana University gathered at the Bill Garrett Fieldhouse to support our Indiana Women's Club Basketball. The Women faced off against Miami University (of Ohio) and won both of their games; game one was 41 to 31 and game two was 45 to 40! Our athletes had a great time supporting and look forward to attending another game!
On March 7th, our VP of Communications, Connor Collier, and freshman swimmer, Kristopher Swets, represented Swim Club at Indiana University and Club Sports at "Why Luddy!" "Why Luddy" is an event that is held for two days by the Indiana University Luddy School to show high school seniors what Indiana University and the Luddy School have to offer. We presented alongside several organizations such as the Indiana Daily Student (IDS), TEDx Indiana University, Live Reality Games at IU, and other Indiana University and Luddy School organizations. We received a great deal of interest from many students who were interested in Swim Club and other Club Sports. Connor represented Swim Club at Indiana University and Club Sports again on March 28th for the second round of "Why Luddy."
On March 29th, Swim Club at Indiana University volunteered at the Indiana University Campus Farm. Located just off the main campus, the Indiana University Campus Farm offers many different produce from early spring to late fall. Our team worked tilling up some of the land, trimmed trees, cleaned up trash, and more. We always have a great time at the farm and we look forward to working with them again soon!

Hello all, here's an opportunity to Share Your Experience – Mental Health in Athletics:
My name is Sushmitha Keerthy, and I’m an Indiana University graduate, along with my colleague Manu. We’re currently part of the NSF I-Corps program, conducting research on mental health challenges faced by young adults and student-athletes. We recently spoke with Dr. Ramos, and he recommended reaching out to you.
We’d love to hear your perspective in a quick 15-minute conversation. Our goal is to understand the experiences of young adults like you—what’s working, what’s challenging, and where more support might be needed. Your insights would be incredibly valuable in shaping our research. It would be completely informal, and your insights could help shape future support systems for students and young athletes.
Let me know if you'd be interested, and we can find a time that works for you!
Looking forward to connecting.
Dear Swim Club,
I want to thank you so much for such a wonderful season. I am very proud of what we have all achieved this season. I am so thankful for the opportunity I got to be president of SCIU. When I first joined as a freshman, I did not imagine that swim club would form such a big part in my college experience. Here I was able to find some of my closest friends, the club has seen me through my ups and my downs, and I am grateful for the community that I was able to be a part of.
Thank you Bill for creating this club and allowing every member to feel welcomed. Thank you for being there for me and helping me with everything. I am not going to make this too long because I don’t want to cry writing this but as part of the club, I feel like I can say this on behalf of the club you are the adult we all needed in college. Please stay in our lives because there is no other Bill Ramos in this world.
Team, there is still a bit of school year left so be ready for what is to come. I cannot wait see what next year looks like, I am sure that the club is in good hands. Please remember that you can always count on me I am only a call or a text away. Again, it has been an honor to be part of the officer board for two years, and an even bigger honor being president during the 25th anniversary season of the club. Good luck to all of you.
Much love,
Marcella De Leon-Vasquez

Dear Swim Clubbers,
This year has been amazing and kudos to the officers and coaches who helped guide us through the season. I hope that you not only found a place to help you stay healthy and active but also a home to have community and connection on campus. It’s always great to watch you all come together and become closer as the season progresses. Now here we are at the end of another season with banquet the team banquet and 25th anniversary celebration just around the corner. Excited to see you all there!
Over the long history of the club there are themes that have come to be part of our mission and identity. Mantras like, “Swimming for a Lifetime”, “Your Next Phase in Swimming”, and “We Love Ya When We See Ya” continue to apply today and define why we’ve been successful for so long. Watching the growth of the organization, and more importantly the growth of the many who have stayed in touch over the years, has been an unforgettable part of my career at Indiana University.
Very much looking forward to seeing those who can make it to town next weekend. It will be an emotionally charged and happy weekend……..I’m ready!!
See you soon…….Cheers…….Bill
