Swimming into fall

Another month of Hoosier swimming has come and gone, and what a month it was! Our team had two meets at both Miami University (of Ohio) and the home of the Hoosiers, Indiana University! Our team also had two team events, Swim Club at Indiana University Alumni Tailgate and the Pumpkin Carving Potluck! We have a lot more to come here in November; check it out below!

tOOK cARe OF bUISNESS

On October 4th, the Hoosiers traveled to Miami University (of Ohio) to take on the Redfins along with Cincinnati, University of Kentucky, Butler, Kent State, Case Western Reserve, Vanderbilt, SLU, Ohio University, and Marquette. We took a team of 40+ swimmers, six of whom got their first National cuts of the season and are eligible to travel to Greensboro, North Carolina, for the 2026 College Club Swimming National Championships! These six swimmers are Arnav Nayak, Madi Machado, Botond Kun, Lily Baumgardner, Isabella Brubaker, and Carter Wilt! Our Women placed 2nd, while our Men placed 1st, but our team overall placed 1st! A job well done by all of our athletes!

On October 17th, the Hoosiers were at home for our annual Alumni Meet! A very large portion of our team, around 50+, were there with a handful of Swim Club at Indiana University Alumni showing up! Our team was split into two and competed against each other: Cream v. Crimson! Our team had a super fun time competing together at our home pool against our amazing alumni!

Beyond the Lanes

This past month, we had two team bonding events.

On October 18th, our Swim Club at Indiana University Alumni hosted the Swim Club's Annual Alumni Tailgate! This yearly tradition allows all our swimmers and alumni to connect and talk! Sean Dorsey brought his truck, grill, tent, table, chairs, and cornhole, so Swim Club and the alumni enjoy a fun Indiana University Homecoming tailgate! As Sean made everyone hot dogs, everyone brought their own food, snacks, and drinks, and talked with each other and played a couple of games of cornhole! This, as always, is a fun time for our team, and we look forward to having it again next year!

On October 24th, our swimmers traveled down the road towards Ellettsville, Indiana for a cool evening carving pumpkins for Halloween! Our athletes brought a variety of food and snacks and were able to talk and eat around a roaring fire. After everyone finished eating, the team then moved on to start cutting into a wide variety of pumpkins! Each design was unique, ranging from ghostly ghouls and the Indiana University Trident to memes and even a Roblox face! Our team had a fun time getting ready for the spookiest week of the year!

We have more team events planned for this month! We will be hosting some events, volunteering, and going to support some other Indiana University Club Sports! Check the bottom of the Newsletter or our Team Calendar in the Information tab.

Engaging with the alumni

Every year Swim Club at Indiana University likes to get our alumni connected with our current team. In 2025, we've had three events to do that: the 25th Anniversary, our annual Homecoming Cream & Crimson Alumni Meet, and the annual Homecoming Alumni Tailgate! We love having our alumni coming around and see us and hang out over the years! We hope to see our alumni again this season; whether that be at our Hoosier Invite at the IU Natatorium in the spring or at another Swim Club alumni hosted event!

A very BIG Congratulations are in order to two of our Alumni who are taking the "'ENGAGE'ing With The Alumni" quite literally! Andy Morozov and Kennedy Gallagher are ENGAGED! Congratulations to this fantastic couple!

At Swim Club at Indiana University, we pride ourselves on connecting our swimmers with people from all across Indiana University! We have seen athletes go from those who would never have met to those who become college and even lifelong friends! We have even seen quite a few who meet at Swim Club and become couples and even get married! This is all thanks to Swim Club at Indiana University, which gave us the platform for connecting with a variety of people at Indiana University!
